Saturday Rides to Bragg from Maillot HomesOur Saturday rides out to Bragg Creek and back start in May. As usual these are no-drop rides, so please be ready to ride by 10!
This year we will again be starting our Saturday rides from the Maillot Homes HQ, removing the busy stretch of Highway 1. To compensate, we will be adding an optional ride behind Bragg Creek for those that want to stretch the distance to the usual 70K. https://go.teamsnap.com/868835/schedule/view_event/142551198

Ready, Set, Ride!![]() Next week sees the start of our Tuesday night (Tuscany) training rides, with Thursday night (Silverado) starting the week after. These rides are open to anyone, any ability. As with all our One Aim rides, we regroup regularly as part of our “no-drop” policy. Find out all about our various training rides on OneAim.ca here: http://www.oneaim.ca/training-rides.html Signup for the riders on Team Snap: Tuesday, April 5, 2016 - Tuscany Cloverleaf Route: http://oneaim.teamsnap.com/view_event/30118216 Thursday, April 14, 2016 http://oneaim.teamsnap.com/view_event/49250571 Team Snap!Teamsnap is our main point of contact on upcoming training rides and team events. We use it to inform team members about training rides and upcoming team events.
Do you need to join Teamsnap? No! But it does help us communicate to and organize such a large group, so that’s why we use it! It's also useful for our Ride Guides to see who might be attending a ride, or to communicate changes to an event. How do I signup? You can signup for TeamSnap at www.teamsnap.com, and find the One Aim team page at oneaim.teamsnap.com. Email oneaimteam@gmail.com and we can also send you an invite to the team. Can I use it on my phone? There is an Android and iPhone application available from the app store that you can use to easily set your availability, see who is attending an event, or see upcoming events and information. Carl Finley![]() Next up is a few words about a man of few words. You’ll often find Carl literally going the extra mile, as he does extra loops, laps, hills, or sections on a Tuesday night ride. So consider yourself warned, if you follow a man on the largest Cannondale ever made riding away from the pack, you’ll be getting some bonus miles! Carl was also behind last years 24 Hour “Ride the Rim” event, it was hosted from his driveway. Many One Aimers and friends and family alike came out to join the Riders as they circled an 8k loop for 24 hours. This year, he and wife Peggy (also a One Aimer) are looking to take Ride the Rim to the next level! Here is some more information about Carl straight from the man himself: Tell us about yourself Carl? It's all about riding for me. Is there anything else? How many times have you done the RTCC? 2016 will be my 4th RTCC. Why do you Ride Carl? Both my wife and I have family members that have had cancer and believe this is a fabulous way for me to do my part to help find a cure. I am blown away by the survivors - their strength and determination is inspiring. We want to meet you Carl Finley, where might we find you? Tuesday Night Rides (Tuscany), Thursday Night Rides (Silverado), Who made this question? What kind of bike do you ride? There is nothing like a Canondale in my mind. 'Nuff Said. Find out more about Carl and why he Rides on his Ride page here: http://www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR/Events/Alberta2016?px=3319057&pg=personal&fr_id=1572 Want to join in the fun? We can’t make this stuff up (well we can but you probably don’t want us to), so if you’re interested in being profiled in our “Meet the Team” series, then fill out this beautiful form and we’ll make you famous! http://goo.gl/forms/UidyPp39jd Ride the Rim @ Parkland Summerfest!![]() One Aim has teamed up with Parkland Summerfest for the 2nd running (riding?) of the 24 Hour "Ride the Rim". Friday June 24, 2016, Riders will start looping the 8k loop in Parkland, as a part of Parkland's Summerfest festival. Here is the flyer for the event, put it in your calendars! https://go.teamsnap.com/868835/schedule/view_event/49617238 ![]()
Bradley Arthur![]() Continuing our series on meeting the One Aim team, we introduce a rider who defies the saying - “Cyclists should be seen and not heard.” I’m pretty sure that’s a saying, but feel free not to fact check that. WHAAAAAAT? It’s Bradley Arthur! Bradley is easily recognized on bike with his distinctive “Redback” riding boots. Seriously he wears boots, and it’s awesome. Bradley received his golden helmet last year as 5 year rider in the RTCC and is back for #6. A lover of all things cookie, you may also see Bradley out and walkabout in his Cookie Monster or Australian Cycling Team jerseys or cycling caps. Here is some more information about Bradley straight from the man himself: Tell us about yourself Bradley? Married to my long suffering and very understanding wife Brigitte. Aside from cycling I enjoy hiking, beer, hiking with beer (wait... sounds a lot like Kevin's profile....). "My boots are made for cycling, and that's just what they'll do. One of these days my boots are gonna pedal right past you." How many times have you done the RTCC? 2016 will be my 6th RTCC. Why do you Ride Bradley? I ride for my Mum who beat breast cancer 20 years ago. I ride for my Dad who is living with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I ride to honour all of the awesome people I met as I worked for the event who have their own stories about cancer. We want to meet you Bradley Arthur, where might we find you? You can find me on Tuesday and Saturday rides with One Aim. If I’m not there, then check the pub! What kind of bike do you ride? My bike of choice for the last 3 RTCC is my 2005 LeMond Zurich - the best $750 I have ever spent on a bike. Clipless pedals, however I have not figured out to embed cleats in a pair of Redback work boots. Find out more about Bradley and why he Rides on his Ride page here: http://www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR/Events/Alberta2016?px=2211919&pg=personal&fr_id=1572 Want to join in the fun? One of the many canser survivors on One Aim, she’s also our most published blogger. She openly shared shared the story of her diagnosis, treatment, survival, and overall canser journey with the world through her My Inner Ninja blog. Ladies and Gentlemen, Cindy Faas. Cindy was a first time rider in 2015 and was joined on the ride by her husband Phil. They purchased themselves a pair of matching road bikes (so cute!) and quickly became regulars on any and all training rides they could attend. Cindy has quickly become a “social event” organizer with One Aim, having hosted team BBQ’s and arranging seating at Kildare’s for the Thursday night rides. Cindy also put together an amazing 3 part post on her Ride to Conquer Cancer which is definitely worth a read. Here is some more information about Cindy straight from the women herself: Tell us about yourself Cindy? Party loving, Breast cancer survivor (2 years March 31!) all weather camper, rookie rider, Nigel worshipping, Guinness loving, wordy blogger, mamma of 2 great kids and incredibly lucky wife to best half & teammate Phil How many times have you done the RTCC? 2016 will be my 2nd RTCC. Why do you Ride Cindy? To honour my Dad who died from pancreatic canser. To show others there is life after canser diagnosis. Cause of Matt Anderson's story. Also cause Nigel told me I could do it haha! We want to meet you Cindy Faas, where might we find you? You can find me on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday rides with One Aim. If I’m not there, then check the pub! What kind of bike do you ride? Bought my first (& only!) road bike April 2015...it's a small Norco Valence (2014 model?). Love it but I'm sure there's room for another ....isn't the rule 1 bike per year? (Editors comment: Yes, something like that!) Find out more about Cindy and why she Rides on her Ride page here: http://www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR/Events/Alberta2016?px=3814129&pg=personal&fr_id=1572 Want to join in the fun? Alain was a new rider to One Aim last year, having been um… recruited by Mike Beauchamp to join the Ride. It’s been said of Joe that he can literally be convinced to do anything, which makes him a great husband, friend, co-worker, and team mate. Alain’s unique “chicken nugget” training regime is the envy of all his friends and co-workers, leading to his mastery of running events: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJEdX72uhlE Here is some more information about Alain straight from the man himself: Tell us about yourself Alain? I’m a furious collector of “husband points” and a devoted follower of anything sports related: Hockey, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Flag Football.... and especially Cycling since I joined One Aim. Other hobbies include "sampling" craft beers at my favorite pubs and spending great family time with my wife and 2 kids (sappy I know but I really need some more husband points). How many times have you done the RTCC? 2016 will be my 2nd RTCC. We want to meet you Alain Jodoin, where might we find you? You can find me on Tuesday and Saturday rides with One Aim. If I’m not there, then check the pub! What kind of bike do you ride? I got a fantastic deal on a Red & White Cannondale Synapse... Came with 2 brand new rims, tire repair kit and a One Aim "service warranty" of free tire pressure adjustments before every ride :) Thanks Mike Beauchamp! People call you Joe, but are there any other nicknames people have for you? There are definitely a few, but nicknames I can share: Joe - That's right my real name isn't Joe! Got it when I moved to Calgary... "Jo-doin" The Big Cat - My nickname out East In Montreal! Peacekeeper Joe - From the guy ski trips days. I was more of a diplomat and signed many ceasefire treaties. Is it true that you’ve worked with Mike for almost 4 years, and for 2 of those he actually thought your name WAS “Joe”? Yes, that guy is no good with names at all. He had to keep coming to my desk because he couldn’t figure out how to email me. Do you have a Favorite Movie? Yes, infact I do, it’s Happy Gilmore! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK7FNjHVEag Find out more about Joe and why he Rides on his Ride page here: http://www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR/Events/Alberta2016?px=3807581&pg=personal&fr_id=1572 Want to join in the fun? We thought it would be fun to put together some posts about the Team as we head into the 2016 Ride season! First up is Kevin “Citizen” Jones! Kevin is one of the One Aim Captains and a founding member of the team. To his friends he is also known as “K-Dawg”, and secretly aspires to be Batman. Here is some information about Kevin straight from K-Dawg himself: Tell us about yourself Kevin? I like beer, riding, video games, beer, and long walks on the beach (with beer). How many times have you done the RTCC? 2016 will be my 8th year in the RTCC, and 7th as a part of One Aim! We want to meet you Kevin Jones, where might we find you? You can find me on the Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday rides. If I’m not there, then check the pub! What kind of bike do you ride? Green Kona hybrid. Much disparaged by bike snobs but I love it. What did you do with all those Clif Bars we got last year? Ate them. All of them. We can’t make this stuff up (well we can but you probably don’t want us to), so if you’re interested in being profiled in our “Meet the Team” series, then fill out this beautiful form and we’ll make you famous! http://goo.gl/forms/UidyPp39jd We've updated the One Aim website to a new format, and updated the current content!
