On Saturday July 25, we will embark on an epic journey. Epic is an over used word but it is appropriate here. Even if you have ridden in The Ride before, every year is different.
The Basics - Before The Ride 1) Make sure that your bike is fully-serviced and you have all necessary spares and equipment (see list) 2) Team Jersey: Make sure that you have your One Aim team jersey and paid your One Aim Cycling Club Membership. 3) Tent assignment: Click here to see your One Aim team-mates who might need a tent-mate: One Aim team tent-mates
The Basics - The Ride Weekend Getting there: You can drop off your bag on the Friday afternoon/evening but it doesn't save much time. My advice, get to the start location EARLY! There is a lot to do and an awful lot of other people trying to do it at the same time. I recommend arriving at the start by 5.30am...yup, that's right!
> Make sure that your bike is ready and set aside what you need "on the road" (see list) > Take your overnight bag to the trucks > Make any last minute donation deposits, change jersey size (if required) and get some breakfast > Look for the One Aim Flag...that will be our rendezvous point (if you are collecting your One Aim jersey, bring a cheque, NOT cash!) > Get yourself into the starting area in good time and position yourself approximately according to your typical pace. (i.e. if you're a middle-pack rider on training rides, choose the middle)
